Plymouth

From Pendoggett we drove south to Yelverton, near Dartmoor Prison, where we had arranged to meet up with Sharon from Storybook Dads the next day. We were a bit early for check-in at at Moorland Links, the motel we had booked for the next two nights, so we drove past the prison and did a tour of the prison museum across the road. A very hysterical place, grey and foreboding - the museum and prison alike. Being on the moors there is often fog and mist, adding to the atmosphere, especially in winter.

After check in I threw caution to the wind and drove the half hour or so almost to Plymouth, but at the last minute found a Park and Ride which proved much less stressful for the last few miles into town.

What a beautiful city Plymouth is - castles, harbour, modern shopping and many places to eat and drink. Well worth a visit.

We had tea in the motel restaurant, which was very classy compared to the Cornish Arms, but they were both good in their own way.
