Dublin

We walked the short distance across the road to the place where we were to get the shuttle bus to Beauvais Airport, around 70 kms out of Paris. Ryanair has a series of agricultural looking sheds at Beauvais from which they operate their flights to Britain and Europe. To Dublin, for a basic rate of thirty pounds, you get a seat (not a seat number) and hand luggage, and with a flying time of one hour fifteen we weren't complaining (much). Originally we were going to spend more time in Paris then return to England but after discovering that our friends Peter and Chris from Tamworth were going to be in Ireland at the time, and we had never been there, we changed our plans to fit Ireland in between France and Scotland.

After meeting up at Dublin airport we waited for the shuttle to our accommodation, Augustine Apartments. However it never came, so after a phone call, a drink in the bar and another wait, we realised that the shuttle did not in fact say Augustine but Aardvark (Of course. We're in Ireland).

Our apartment was nice except the washing machine was broken so we moved upstairs. That was after a few anxious moments when they couldn't find the second half of our booking at check-in.

All worked out well, however, especially after a couple more drinks and then dinner down the road at the Brazen Head, supposedly Ireland 's oldest pub (I'm sure there are a few of them). I had mussels and we listened to a genuine Irish pub band. They even played Aussie music just for Peter.
