Grant, Jennie and the boys all went to school, leaving us to our own devices, so we decided to go to Liverpool on the train - or should I say trains. We walked from High Meadows, where the Hepplestons live, down to Bromley Cross station (about 20 minutes), then took the train to Manchester, (about half an hour) then another one to Liverpool (about an hour). We could have driven, but I didn't fancy trying to negotiate any more roundabouts or pay for parking. However in hindsight we could have done a Park and Ride, which we didn't discover until Plymouth, but which would have been cheaper. It didn't really matter though - it's all part of the fun of travelling.
Once in Liverpool we walked around the traditional Beatles area and soaked up the atmosphere. We bought Chelsea's presents from the Beatles Museum which we visited last time. Then we did another Red Bus tour, seeing places we missed 6 years ago, partly because it was raining then. We have been really lucky on this trip so far, with no days spoiled by the weather. It was nice to sit on the bus at the port listening to Ferry Across the Mersey, actually looking at the Mersey. Brought back nice memories of the 60's (for me at least!)
Trained back to Bolton at the end of the day, chatted and had pizza for tea The sun went to bed at 10ish and so did we. Wales tomorrow.
