Because the plane appeared to be overbooked we were offered a night's accommodation in London and a free airfare on Emirates to be used later, which normally would have been very tempting, but we had a schedule to keep to (eg work on Monday), and we were to meet cousin Kay again and also this time her daughters Anaise and Caitlin whom we had never met until now, in Singapore. So maybe next time! (Also when you've made the effort to get to the airport, all psyched up to fly, it's hard to reverse it all only to do it again the next day).
Seven hours and several more movies (I watched Paul, which was hilarious) saw us landing in Dubai for a couple of hours, and once again we were late taking off due to congestion. It was probably about 7am body clock time by then.
Another 7 hours or so saw us land in Singapore, an hour late, but the limo was there to meet us ($65 Singapore and well worth it). It was provided by the Hotel Re!, a really quirky boutique hotel on Pearl's Hill, not far from the train station in a very quiet area.
After checking in and checking our emails, we checked out (sleeping) at around 1am local time.
