Goodbye England

Last day in the UK. We - or rather Neil - drove to Gatwick. I thought I would let him drive for one day since it was our last, and the thought of airport roundabouts terrified me! I needn't have worried as Gatwick is a doddle (mental note for next time, unless it's Heathrow).

We dropped the car off at the South Terminal then deposited our bags for a few hours (around 8 pounds a bag) while we took the train for one last look at the city. We had a few hours to kill and the train takes around half an hour, so there was plenty of time.

We got off at London Bridge and had our last pub lunch, this time at The Barrowboy and Banker. It didn't disappoint.

After that we walked along the river to the Globe Theatre and had a look around as far as we could without paying to get in. It's hard to imagine how it really would have looked back in the 1500s as it is so modern.

We also came across an exhibition on the site of the old Clink Prison at London Bridge from 1144-1780, so we went in (not overpriced) and had a wander around, imagining what went on there in the past. Good exhibits and lots of information.

We made it back to Gatwick by five, and were off to Singapore via Dubai at 9.15pm.
